MISSION

The Adams Community School has served generations of Hill residents as a center to unify our neighborhood. Adams Builds Community (ABC) continues this legacy by advocating for the reuse of the Adams building as a Community Center housing organizations and programs with a proven history of service to our community, such as, A Company of Girls, Cultivating Community and The Compass Project.  We seek to secure a gathering place that is low-cost, accessible, and safe, providing our neighborhood with a sense of pride and ownership.

On WED, APRIL 9, the CDC considered a revised RFP

which reflected the Munjoy Hill community vision

on the Adams Community School District 1 Councilor,

Kevin Donoghue advocated for the original draft RFP

in opposition to the Munjoy Hill community vision.

The CDC adopted the original draft RFP from October 2007 with some minor modifications.  The committee is making recommendations to the City Council, there will be a City Council Workshop & pursuant to Order 46-06/07,

the FULL City Council will make the final decision!

They need to hear from YOU—the community!

The Portland City Council wants to know what you want!

The community consensus seems to be:

A) keep the Adams Community School

B) keep the playground

C) keep some open green space

D) build 20 or 30 or more units of truly diverse and truly affordable housing

to help keep Munjoy Hill the great and diverse community it has always been

The Portland City Council voted for YOU to decide NOT the highest bidder!

It’s up to you!  Let’s keep Adams Community School!!!

Let’s make Munjoy Hill an even better community for all!
